S/S 27 swings between romance and utility. Romance arrives through print and shape: florals painted at full scale or stitched in thread, painterly blurs and 70s paisley on fluid chiffon, tiers and balloon volume set against long, liquid columns. Utility answers with the oversized blazer, the trench, cargo pants and the men's oxford shirt, cut in gabardine, poplin and leather.
The palette runs from scarlet, candy pink and violet to turquoise, mint and acid lime, anchored by chocolate, sand and black. The studio read 1,186 runway looks across Madrid, Milan, Paris, London and New York, and a direction earns its place in the report only when it crosses several houses. What remains is organized in five chapters, released one a week from 20 October, with the complete report on 24 November.
